Promise Made, Promise Kept: Governor Pete Ricketts Delivers “Generational” Property Tax Relief

Calling it “generational,” Governor Pete Ricketts applauded legislators for helping deliver on his promise and top priority – providing property tax relief for Nebraskans.

Per the RGA:

Calling it “generational,” Governor Pete Ricketts applauded legislators for helping deliver on his promise and top priority – providing property tax relief for Nebraskans.

At a time when Nebraskans need a break more than ever, Governor Ricketts championed and signed property tax relief legislation that will allow families to keep more of their hard-earned money and position small businesses and farmers to be more competitive.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, Governor Ricketts never wavered from his steadfast commitment to providing Nebraskans with this much-needed relief. Given Nebraska’s strong economic standing due to the principled fiscal stewardship throughout his tenure, the state was able to move forward with providing property tax relief.

According to the Lincoln Journal-Star, once enacted and fully operational, the law “paves a path toward $650 million in annual property tax relief,” a four-fold increase from when the governor took office. Once fully implemented, most taxpayers could see as much as a 15% decline in their property taxes.

“While navigating Nebraska through challenging times, Governor Ricketts has remained focused on ensuring that Cornhusker families, job creators, and communities can rebound,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “By enacting this generational property tax relief, Governor Ricketts is making it clear that as long as he’s in office he will empower all Nebraskans to participate in the state and nation’s economic comeback.”
