Republican governors across the county continue to be recognized by their constituents for their visionary leadership, efforts to expand opportunity, and common sense policy solutions to the challenges facing their states.
According to Morning Consult, for the fourth consecutive quarter, the top ten governors who have earned the highest job approval ratings are all Republicans, while the four governors with the lowest approval ratings are Democrats.
These latest survey results affirm the strength of the Republican brand and effectiveness of Republican leadership across the country. More than half of voters in 17 states led by Republican governors approve of the job performance of their chief executive; the same can be said for only four states led by Democratic governors. Additionally, sitting Republican governor hold an average job approval rating of 54.84%, more than ten percentage points higher than the average approval rating of 44.77% for Democrats.
Leading the way is Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon, who caps off his first year in office as the most popular governor in America with a sky-high 69% approval rating. Not far behind, Gordon is followed by a trio of governors who have been extremely successful in deep blue states: Governors Larry Hogan of Maryland, Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, and Phil Scott of Vermont. Rounding out the top ten are Governors Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Ron DeSantis of Florida, Greg Abbott of Texas, Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, and Kay Ivey of Alabama.
“Voters in states across the country overwhelmingly approve of the tangible results, meaningful reforms, and era of economic opportunity ushered in by America’s Republican governors,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “By implementing innovative policy solutions and keeping their promises, Republican governors are transforming their states for the better.”
