New Poll: GOP’s Ed Gillespie In Strong Position For Victory In Virginia Governor’s Race

With just weeks to go until Virginia voters elect their next governor, a new poll shows Republican Ed Gillespie is in strong position for victory and gaining momentum. The latest survey by Suffolk University has the race tied at 42-42 between Gillespie and his Democrat opponent, Ralph Northam, with Gillespie leading by14 points among independent voters. Gillespie continues to pick up steam as he lays out a clear vision on why he would be a governor for all Virginians.

The race to be the next governor of Virginia is virtually tied, according to a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll.

According to a survey of Virginia voters, 42% support Democrat Ralph Northam, while another 42% support Republican Ed Gillespie. Additionally, 2% said they supported Libertarian Clifford Hyra and another 12 % said they were undecided.

The poll surveyed 500 likely voters from Sept. 13-17 and has an error margin of 4.4 points.

Other polls ahead of the Nov. 7 election have shown similar results, including the University of Mary Washington.
