With just 8 months to go until Election Day, a new poll shows Democrat governor Gina Raimondo is facing a difficult path to re-election with her approval rating falling to an all-time low. In WPRI-TV and Roger Williams University’s first survey of the cycle, Raimondo’s job approval rating has dropped to 37% after months of stagnant economic growth, bottom ten business rankings, and disturbing scandals that have plagued her administration.
To make matters worse for Raimondo, the poll also shows her locked in a statistical tie with one GOP challenger. Even after the Democrat Governors Association spent hundreds of thousands in dollars in early campaign ads backing Raimondo last year, her approval rating has gone down, and her chances of winning a second term have continued to decrease with polls showing the race as a toss-up.
As Gina Raimondo fails to follow through on her promises to the people of Rhode Island, voters are making it clear that they have had enough of her failed leadership. Rhode Island is ready for a new direction in 2018.
