Nevada Democrat gubernatorial candidate Chris Giunchigliani’s out-of-touch comments on opioids continue to cause headaches for her campaign after she “appeared to dismiss the growing opioid epidemic” earlier this month. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Giunchigliani called opioids “a white persons’ drug right now” while making false claims about Methadone use in Nevada’s rural areas.
Now a new column published by the Nevada Independent is blasting Giunchigliani for her comments calling them “critically out-of-touch” and “dismissive of the tens of thousands of families in minority communities who have battled opioid addiction or lost someone to the disease.”
As she takes increasing criticism for her dismissive statements about a crisis affecting thousands of Nevada families, Giunchigliani’s campaign continues to alienate voters as she shows just how out-of-touch she is with the people of her state.
