Florida Democrat gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham just can’t understand why her campaign is struggling.
While her establishment friends assure her that she should be “a national leader in her party,” Graham has been unableto attract base enthusiasm, while continuing to take heat from her rivals for being a typical politician and flip-flopper.
This disconnect has gotten so jarring that Graham has taken to lecturing others about her supposedly misunderstood political talents, telling a reporter three times, “I’m not boring!”
What Graham fails to understand is that her campaign is seen as “boring” because she’s just another typical politician who thinks she’s entitled to the state’s highest office. Floridians deserve better.
At the time I must have looked confused, because she caught me off guard with a question no politician had ever asked me: ‘Do you think I’m boring?’ I stammered: Maybe a little.
I instantly felt awful, because Graham is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in politics, but I’m professionally obligated to report that she replied with three sentences the not-as-clean-as-bleach star of ‘The Apprentice’ and the ‘Access Hollywood’ tape will never have to say: "I’m not boring! I’m not boring! I’m not boring!”
