GULP: California’s New Far-Left Dem Gov Gavin Newsom Wants To Tax Drinking Water

Gov. Newsom is planning even more tax increases for Californians...

Per The RGA:

After eight years of Democrat tax hikes have forced California residents to flee the state, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is planning to impose even more tax increases.

Just days after taking office, Newsom is reportedly calling for a new tax on drinking water in his budget proposal for California. Newsom is picking up right where Governor Jerry Brown left off in pushing another outlandish tax hike that will make California less affordable for working families.

It’s no surprise that thousands of Californians have left the state in recent years and moved to states run by GOP governors, including Texas and Arizona with lower tax rates and friendlier business climates. Unfortunately, Newsom’s far-left proposals show that he has no interest in reversing this trend.

Here's more, from Townhall.com:

The state’s new governor, Gavin Newsom, has proposed a statewide water tax that would create a “safe and affordable drinking water fund [that would] enable the State Water Resources Control Board to assist communities, particularly disadvantaged communities, in paying for the short-term and long-term costs of obtaining access to safe and affordable drinking water.”

This isn’t the first time a tax on water has been proposed—a similar measure, which would have imposed an $11.40 per year tax on California residents, was sought by former Gov. Jerry Brown last year but was unable to get enough support in the legislature.
