Governor Matt Bevin Is Keeping Kentucky Safe

Keeping all Kentuckians safe has been a priority for Gov. Bevin since day one.

As Governor, Matt Bevin fights every single day for Kentucky families. Whether it’s to stop drug trafficking, combat the opioid crisis, or to make our schools safer, Governor Bevin has led the charge from day one.

Earlier this year, for example, Gov. Bevin signed into law the School Safety and Resiliency Act. Aimed at keeping our children safe and secure, the bill improves mental health services, mandates suicide prevention training, and ensures that every school has a resource officer. It is a huge step forward in providing security for schools throughout Kentucky.

Gov. Bevin is also tackling the opioid crisis head-on, refusing to kick the can down the road for future administrations. He’s led the fight against Kentucky’s drug epidemic by limiting opioid prescriptions to prevent addiction and securing nearly $90 million in new funding for treatment. The Bevin Administration is also cracking down on those importing deadly drugs like heroin and fentanyl into local communities.

In 2017, Gov. Bevin signed the “Blue Lives Matter” bill into law, making it a hate crime to attack police officers and first responders – the men and women who get up every day and put their lives on the line so that we can go about our daily lives.

Keeping all Kentuckians safe has been a priority for Gov. Bevin since day one, and he’s turning his words into actions. It’s not only the right thing to do – it’s what he was elected to do.
