Gov. Abbott Shreds NYC Mayor Adams For Complaining About ‘A Few Dozen’ Illegals In ‘His Sanctuary City’

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott slammed New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams Monday for complaining about the small number of illegal aliens that have been bussed to the city

Per Daily Wire:

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott slammed New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams Monday for complaining about the small number of illegal aliens that have been bussed to the city while Texas has been forced to bear the brunt of the border crisis that has erupted under President Joe Biden.

Adams, who greeted a group of roughly 40 illegal aliens who arrived from Texas on Sunday, has requested help from the federal government in dealing with the illegal aliens that have been dropped off in his city.

“This is horrific when you think about what [Abbott] is doing,” Adams said during a press conference. “New York is a city that has always represented democratic values. Showing our values. That’s what we’re doing today.”

“It is unimaginable what the governor of Texas has done,” he claimed. “When you think about this country, a country that has always been open to those who are fleeing persecution and other intolerable conditions.”

“We’ve always welcomed that. And this governor is not doing that in Texas. But we are going to set the right message and the right tone of being here for these families,” Adams added.

Abbott responded to Adams’ remarks in a fiery statement Monday afternoon, mocking the first-term mayor for being “hypocritically upset.”

“What’s horrific is the thousands of illegal immigrants overrunning and overwhelming our border communities with populations smaller than a New York City borough, and Mayor Adams is hypocritically upset about welcoming a few dozen into his sanctuary city,” Abbott said. “These migrants willingly chose to go to New York City, having signed a voluntary consent waiver, available in multiple languages, upon boarding that they agreed on the destination.”

“If the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, he should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border-something the President continues failing to do,” Abbott continued. “The Biden Administration is allowing historic levels of illegal immigrants, weapons, and deadly drugs like fentanyl to surge into our state and dumping migrants in our border towns with little to no help provided.”

Abbott noted that he has deployed Texas National Guard soldiers and DPS troopers to the border in an attempt to slow down the massive influx of illegal aliens pouring into his state from Mexico.

Abbott also highlighted that the state is “building our own border wall, busing migrants to sanctuary cities Washington, D.C. and New York City to provide relief to our local partners, and now sending illegal immigrants back to the border.”
