Dem Gov Gina Raimondo Faces Opposition From Her Former Big Labor Allies In Rhode Island

Rhode Island Democrat Governor Gina Raimondo’s Big Labor allies are already abandoning her reelection efforts.

The RGA writes:

With an all-time low approval rating in recent polls due to her poor performance as governor and alarming lack of transparency, Rhode Island Democrat Governor Gina Raimondo’s Big Labor allies are already abandoning her reelection efforts. WPRI-TVreports that Rhode Island teacher’s union chief Bob Walsh is considering mounting an independent bid to unseat Raimondo, after spending months recruiting candidates to challenge her for the Democrat nomination.

Walsh supported Raimondo’s candidacy in 2014, giving her his personal endorsement in the general election. But with Raimondo’s failed record and lack of measurable results, Walsh appears to have turned on her, signaling a clear erosion of support from Big Labor for the governor he once supported.

With Raimondo already facing the possibility of a primary challenge from her predecessor, former Democrat Governor Lincoln Chafee, and growing internal dysfunction within the Rhode Island Democratic Party, Walsh’s challenge would further hinder Raimondo’s path to victory in 2018. As Big Labor continues to turn on Raimondo and her failing administration, America’s most unpopular Democrat governor running in 2018 has even more reason to worry.a
